Allegheny County Bar Association Summer Clerkship and Law Internship Programs

ACBA Summer Clerkship Program

Summer Clerkship Program imageThe Allegheny County Bar Association continues to sponsor a Summer Clerkship Program as part of its Diversity Initiative. Under the program, first-year minority law students may work twelve weeks at a law firm, corporate law department, or government agency and also participate in career-focused seminars or practice area discussions with attorneys. This experience allows students to connect their legal education to a rewarding summer job. At the present time, the participating law schools are the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Duquesne University School of Law, and the West Virginia University College of Law. For more information, contact Gene Harris at 412-402-6674.

ACBA Summer Law Internship Program

The ACBA's Minority Summer Law Internship Program runs each year from June to August. Geared toward inner city students from the Pittsburgh Public School District, the program gives the students a chance to work in a professional environment at a local law firm or business. Participants, who usually have at least a B grade point average, earn a salary for performing a variety of meaningful tasks for their employer. Law firms, corporate law departments, businesses, and government agencies are usually eager to help the ACBA reach its goal of having 30 employers provide an eight-week work experience for students. For an application and additional program information, please contact Marlene Ellis at 412-402-6611.
