Lawyer Referral Service attorney application information
Your completed Lawyer Referral Service application must include the following:
- Completed Lawyer Referral Service application and Membership agreement
- Proof of Professional Liability Insurance
- If you are a member of the ACBA, a $150.00 panel registration fee to join no more than 20 regular fee panels plus the special custody mediation panel (optional), plus the Disaster Relief panel (optional), or $50.00 panel registration fee to join the special custody mediation panel ONLY
- If you are not a member of the ACBA, a $350.00 panel registration fee to join no more than 20 regular fee panels plus the special custody mediation panel (optional)
- If you choose to sign up for the reduced-fee Modest Means panel in addition to the regular fee, you may deduct $25.00 from your registration fee. If you choose to sign up for the Modest Means panel only, a $50.00 panel registration fee will apply.
If you wish to join any of the following panels, you must submit a completed experience panel application form for each such panel chosen:

- Dental Malpractice
- Domestic/Matrimonial Appellate Practice
- Legal Malpractice
- Medical Malpractice
- PCRA Petitions
- Products Liability
- Vaccine Litigation
- Complex Support/Paternity
- Complex Criminal Litigation
- Complex Divorce/Equitable Distribution

The first three items in the drop down menu (the Membership Agreement, the Rules and Procedures and the Application Form) MUST be downloaded, completed and submitted with the requested insurance information and membership fee before your application will be considered. The rest of the items in the drop down menu are optional depending on the areas of practice in which you receive referrals.

The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is a service designed to assist the people of Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania in locating lawyers for specific types of legal matters. Clients can be referred by telephone, mail, or the Internet. The LRS operates by matching potential clients to a member of the Lawyer Referral attorney panel for a $30.00 fee. LRS will refer the client to a private attorney with whom you may consult for up to 30 minutes. After the brief consultation the client and the attorney decide whether or not the attorney will be retained to provide additional services at the attorney's regular rates.
Each year, thousands of clients are referred to the LRS member attorneys. ACBA members may join the Lawyer Referral Service panel for a nominal fee and have access to the referrals.
The ACBA Lawyer Referral Service meets American Bar Association Standards for lawyer referral services.
