ACBA Sidebar Editorial Policy

For the duration of the summer, the Sidebar will appear every other week, beginning with the June 25 issue.

Information submission guidelines:

  1. Authors must submit information via e-mail to jtaylor@acba.org.
  2. Information for the ACBA Sidebar must be received by 4 p.m. on the Monday before the Sidebar in which the author wishes his/her information to appear. It is the author’s responsibility to assure his/her story arrives by the deadline.
  3. The number of announcements which may appear in total for each issue is limited. Submissions are subject to these limitations.
  4. Only announcements for events or programs of the Allegheny County Bar Association/Foundation, events co-sponsored by the Allegheny County Bar Association/Foundation, and court or government notices will be published.
  5. Announcements for programs and meetings sponsored by ACBA Divisions, Sections, and Committees are limited to one appearance in the Sidebar, as these groups may utilize group-specific e-mails to further their publicity. General ACBA and ACBF announcements, as well as court or government notices may continue to appear up to two (2) times.
  6. The editors reserve the right to select, reject, and edit information at our sole discretion. This includes the frequency of appearance for announcements.
  7. All informational blurbs submitted for the Sidebar must be 50 words or less. If the announcement requires further explanation or information, a link to a webpage with that information will be placed in the announcement.
  8. The author assures the information submitted is his/her own original work and is not under any legal restriction for publication (i.e. previous copyright ownership).
  9. The author assumes full responsibility for checking all names, titles, dates, and facts for information submitted.
  10. The ACBA holds all rights for publication (including publication on the World Wide Web) and all reprint rights. Information published in the ACBA Sidebar may not be republished, resold, recorded, or used in any manner, in whole or in part, without the permission of the publishers.
  11. Authors may reach the editor, Joanna Taylor, at jtaylor@acba.org.
