Allegheny County Bar Association
The purpose of the Allegheny County Bar Association Career Services will be to provide member lawyers or firms with candidates to fill attorney positions at a substantial savings in time, effort and fees.
II Administration
2.1 Career Services will be administered by the staff of the ACBA under the direction of the Executive Director.
III Plan of Organization
3.1 Career Services will maintain position announcements on file for two (2) months or until notified that the position has been filled, whichever comes first.
Attorneys who are seeking employment in the Allegheny County legal community may submit resumes directly to Career Services.
Career Services will accept a resume from each applicant and maintain their name in the database for six (6) months. Copies of the resume will be forwarded to potential employers for consideration.
IV Candidate Responsibility
4.1 All candidate information provided by CS to employers shall be deemed confidential.
4.2 All candidate information shall be placed on file and shall become the property of the ACBA.
Any information provided by CS to potential employers shall not be
considered a favorable or unfavorable recommendation of the candidate.
It is the candidate’s responsibility to update their resume
and application filed with Career Services when changes in persona
and/or employment status occur. Failure to provide Career Services
with current information will result in the candidate’s removal
from the service. The candidate may also be subject to removal for
failure to respond to any attempted contact from Legal Placement or
potential employers.
The candidate must inform Career Services when he or she accepts an offer of employment resulting from a referral by Career Services. If the candidate finds employment from means other than Career Services, it is the candidate’s responsibility to notify Career Services for removal from the database.
The candidate, by signing the Statement of Understanding, authorizes the release of all information contained in their file to any potential Employer. No further notification of release will be given to the candidate.
Candidate information will be forwarded to potential employers solely based on the job requirements provided by the employer.
V General
5.1 Career Services does not conduct any employment verifications or background checks. Acquiring such information about any potential employee is the sole responsibility of the Employer. Career Services strongly recommends that Employer conduct a thorough reference checking process on all candidates prior to extending an offer of employment. Further, Career Services accepts no responsibility for any hiring (or any consequences that might arise from such decision) made by Employer based on any information provided by Career Services.
