Each year, a group of volunteers from the Young Lawyers Division make the holidays a little brighter for homeless children and their custodial parents by sponsoring parties at several undisclosed locations throughout Allegheny County.
Through the Salvation Army's "Treasures for Children" program, formerly known as the "Angel Tree," program, a child's first name, age, and sex are written on a paper ornament and hung from the branches of special trees in the Office of the Prothonotary and in the lobby of the Koppers Building. Anonymous donors select an angel, purchase a gift, and return it with the angel to the tree from which it was taken. On the morning of the parties, ACBA volunteers gather to wrap the gifts and label them with children's names and locations. The gifts are sorted according to location and three vans are loaded with the gifts for delivery to the shelters. For more information, contact us at news@acba.org.
