ACBA Secretary Howard J. Schulberg is a partner with the firm of Goehring, Rutter & Boehm. He concentrates his practice in civil litigation, with an emphasis on personal injury, civil rights, products liability, and medical malpractice. Schulberg has also served as an assistant city solicitor, where his experience includes defending civil rights, immunity, and discrimination cases. Based upon his current work as a trial attorney on insurance-related issues and with his expertise in municipal matters, Schulberg is often chosen by his peers as a mediator in those areas. In addition to his insurance knowledge and mediation skills, he has also served as a Special Master in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, presiding over both jury and non-jury trials. An active member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, Schulberg has previously been elected to its Board of Governors. He has also served on the Judiciary Committee, serving as chair in 1999. Schulberg has participated on numerous other committees and sections during his more than 25 years in practice. In addition, he was also elected to the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, an organization which recognizes the top trial lawyers in the county, and served on its Board of Governors. He is a 1976 Bachelor of Arts graduate of Penn State and earned his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law in 1979.
