The Allegheny County Bar Association has published a new children’s book titled That is No Joke! The illustrated book, written and edited by two bar association directors, promotes the key messages of the
association’s successful "This is a Joke-Making Fun of Others is Not!" program which is presented by attorneys to students in grades K-5.
All students who attend the program will receive That is No Joke! but a copy of the book will also be free to area schools and organizations.

According to Ken Gormley, President of the Allegheny County Bar Association, “We are pleased to make this children’s book available to our area students. The book reinforces important messages presented in our schools and teaches children the differences between a good joke and a bad one, why making fun of others is wrong, and why it’s our differences that make us special. We encourage parents to read this book with their children so they can continue to reinforce the key messages.”

Tom Loftus, Director of Marketing and Media Relations for the bar association, wrote That is No Joke! and also created the “This is a Joke - Making Fun of Others is Not!” program. According to Loftus, “This program has been so successful because our attorneys share with students the times they were made fun of or when they made fun of others. That is No Joke! is a nice gift for the students, and its messages complement the anti-bullying programs that our area teachers are doing a great job of promoting.”

The book was edited by Attorney Jennifer Pulice, who is Director of Communications/Publications for the bar association, and it was printed by Pentagon Printing, a local company. Examples of “good” jokes are featured at the end of the book.
