Neighborhood Legal Services offers Chapter 7 bankruptcy CLE
"Representing Clients in Chapter 7" Family law attorneys needed for pro bono projects Legal issues relating to family structure remain one of the highest areas of need for low-income individuals in Allegheny County. If you are an experienced family law attorney, please consider making a commitment to staffing a legal advice clinic at least twice a year. This course trains attorneys to represent individuals filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It is free for attorneys who agree to take two Chapter 7 referrals from NLSA in 2010. The program will be held at the Allegheny County Bar Association's Academy Room, 9th Floor, City-County Building, 414 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (lunch and registration from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.).CLE CREDITS: 2 substantive. Lunch will be served. Space is limited. REGISTRATION FEE: FREE for attorneys volunteering to take two referrals; $80 for non-volunteers; $40 for paralegals who are not volunteering. Project H.E.L.P.
The ACBA Family Law Section is assisting Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, P.C. and The Pittsburgh Paralegal Association in staffing the H.E.L.P. project--Homeless Experience Legal Protection--a project of the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership. H.E.L.P. assists homeless individuals with a variety of legal services and was featured in a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article on January 10, 2010. The clinic is located at the offices of Operation Safety Net in Uptown.
Family law attorneys are needed to staff the clinic from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on the following dates in 2010 (all are on Fridays): April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12. NLSA Family Law Clinic
Neighborhood Legal Services Association is in need of volunteer attorneys practicing in the family law area to assist at its Wednesday evening Family Law Clinics. The clinics meets twice a month on a Wednesday evening between 5:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Volunteer time is limited to two hours and involves giving advice only. No preparation or follow-up is required, and it does not interfere with normal business hours. NLSA is asking that attorneys volunteer only twice a year. The administrative board of the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership is pleased to announce that the Partnership is a recipient of the 2010 John Minor Wisdom Public Service and Professionalism Award given by the American Bar Association's Section of Litigation. This prestigious national award is given to individuals, law firms, and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the quality of justice in their communities, ensuring that the legal system is open and available to all. It is named for The Honorable John Minor Wisdom, a scholar and jurist of the highest integrity whose tenure on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit is best known for its recognition of constitutional rights of all citizens.
