Gary P.HuntACBA President Gary P. Hunt is a 1969 graduate of North Catholic H.S. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1973 and obtained his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh Law School in 1976, where he served on Law Review, graduated cum laude, and was named to the Order of Coif. He started the practice of law as an associate at the law firm of Cleland, Hurtt, Witt and Weil and joined Tucker Arensberg, P.C. in 1980, where he continues to practice law and serve as the Managing Shareholder. His practice is primarily federal and state court litigation, arbitrations and ADR proceedings in commercial litigation, financial institution litigation, construction litigation, and personal injury defense in serious injury and death cases. He also serves as a mediator in private mediations as well as serving on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania ADR neutral panel. He is a member of the Allegheny County Academy of Trial Lawyers, has been named as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer, and has been listed in America’s Best Lawyers in both construction law and commercial litigation.

He has been active with the ACBA and is nearing the end of his second term on the ACBA Board of Governors. He also served as the Chairman of the Civil Litigation Section, a member of the Judiciary Committee, Chair of the Managing Partners Forum, Co-Chair of the Law Firm and Law Department Diversity Initiative Task Force, and Co-Chair of the Gender Equality Task Force. He is active in pro bono service and in 2003 was awarded the Jane F. Hepting Individual Pro Bono Award for pro bono work as counsel to children declared dependent in Allegheny County Children and Youth Services proceedings. He has also been active in community and non-profit organizations. He is the immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh and continues to serve on that Board. He formerly served as the Chairman of the YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer. For his work in connection with the YMCA he was awarded the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh 1995 Volunteer of the Year. He also served on his local school Board of Directors, formerly was the solicitor for his residence community, and is the co-founder and former Chairman of the Avonworth Fund for Educational Excellence. He also served on the Board of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony and continues to serve on the Advisory Board of that organization.
