Allegheny County Bar Association Offers Complimentary Copies of its Popular Children’s Book, That is No Joke!, in Recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month
Association will provide two free copies; one for reading and one for sharing.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – October 9, 2012. Officers of the Allegheny County Bar Association have announced that during October the association will provide two complimentary copies of its award-winning children’s book, That is No Joke!, to individuals and organizations in recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month. The association has been offering one complimentary copy since introducing the book in 2007, but officers hope that area residents will share or pass on the second copy to neighbors, schools or other organizations as a way to continue to spread the key messages of the book and to prevent bullying at an early age. The key messages of the book teaches children the difference between a good joke and a bad one, why making fun of others is wrong, and why it’s our differences that make us special.
According to Mark T. Vuono, President of the Allegheny County Bar Association, “Although our attorneys are out in the schools throughout the year teaching children why making fun of each other is wrong, we wanted to do something extra this month to help raise awareness of bullying prevention. We have been amazed that this little book has gone global over the past couple of years with requests coming in from as far as Singapore and Australia. It is evident that the messages in That is No Joke! are universal, and that bullying is an international issue. We hope that people take this opportunity to share the extra copy with their neighbors, schools, places of worship or community groups. Too many children are the victims of bullying, and we have to do whatever we can to stop bullying.”
The illustrated book was written and edited by two directors of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
