Pittsburgh Attorney Kenneth M. Argentieri elected President
of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – August 5, 2013 – The trustees of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation today announced that Kenneth M. Argentieri, a partner with Duane Morris LLP, has been elected to serve as its president for the years 2013-2015. Argentieri assumed his duties on July 1.
According to outgoing president Carol A. Behers, Argentieri is well prepared to lead the bar foundation because he knows the organization so well having served on its board from 1997-2004 and again from 2007 to the present. “Ken’s wealth of experience and institutional knowledge will serve the Foundation well,” said Behers. “His understanding of the financial matters will be a strong asset as president, and he is exceptionally dedicated and hardworking.”
Argentieri said he has four primary goals during his year as president. They are as follows: 1) to let people in Allegheny County know of the great civic, pro bono, and charitable work being done by the foundation and local attorneys; 2) to assist in helping increase the amount of pro bono work being done by lawyers in Allegheny County; 3) to continue building the Fellows’ endowment so the Foundation can provide more financial assistance to area legal service organizations; and 4) to improve the local legal community through the Foundation’s law school scholarship program and various educational programs.
“I am honored to have been elected by the Bar Foundation to serve as president,” said Argentieri. “I truly believe in the Foundation’s ambitious mission to promote volunteerism and charitable giving, and I hope to be a worthy champion for the organization over the next two years.”
Argentieri, a 1981 graduate of Harvard Law School and a cum laude graduate of Harvard College, is vice-chair of the Products Liability and Toxic Torts division of Duane Morris' Trial Practice Group and managing partner of the firm's Pittsburgh office. As a trial attorney for over 25 years, he has represented individual and corporate clients in complex litigation, including products liability, defamation, toxic tort, environmental, securities, class action, and commercial law. He has handled significant appeals in the federal circuit courts and the Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme Courts. He has served as national coordinating council and as regional counsel for clients in toxic tort matters. He has also served as a mediator to help resolve contract and securities disputes.
Argentieri is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Ohio and regularly handles matters in federal and state courts. He is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Allegheny County Bar Association. He served on the ACBA’s Board of Governors from 2006-2009 and on its Finance Committee from 2004 to the present. He was Chair of that committee from 2010-2012.
In addition to Argentieri, the other officers of the Foundation are: Richard S. Wiedman, Vice President; Mary K. Austin, Secretary; Patricia L. Dodge, Treasurer; and Carol A. Behers, Immediate Past President.
Incorporated in 1980, the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, serves as the philanthropic arm of the Allegheny County Bar Association. The Foundation operates a variety of charitable, educational, pro bono, and public service activities.
