Allegheny County Bar Foundation Announces Plans to Increase Endowment to $1 million

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – September 22, 2005. Robert Ridge, president of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation Board of Trustees, has announced a campaign to increase the foundation’s endowment to $1 million by 2010. The announcement was made last night at the Foundation’s annual Fellows dinner at which 65 attorneys were recognized for their commitment to excellence in charitable, community, professional, and public service. The featured speaker was Michael S. Greco, president of the American Bar Association and a partner in the Boston office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham, LLP.

In support of the campaign that has theme “Building Bridges,” the Allegheny County Bar Association has pledged $300,000 over a six-year period.

The campaign has also received pledges for $25,000 from Eckert Seamans Chrerin & Mellot, LCC; and Reed Smith, LLP.

According to Ridge, “An increased endowment will ensure the foundation will be able to continue its good works in the community for generations to come.”

Incorporated in 1980, the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, serves as the philanthropic arm of the Allegheny County Bar Association. The foundation operates a variety of charitable, educational, pro bono, and public service activities.
