Erica L. Laughlin
Erica L. Laughlin is President of the Allegheny Bar Association.
Ms. Laughlin is a Shareholder at Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky (SMGG) in downtown Pittsburgh where she practices civil litigation in state and federal courts and has successfully represented individuals and businesses in commercial disputes and civil matters, including personal injury, premises liability, professional malpractice, insurance defense, civil rights defense, construction and municipal law claims. Additionally, she is the Co-Chair of SMGG’s Business Development and Marketing Committee. She is a 2001 graduate of Duquesne University and a 2004 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
At the ACBA, Ms. Laughlin has held numerous leadership roles. She’s currently a member of the Civil Litigation Section Council, ad previously served as chair and vice chair of the Bench-Bar Committee, chair and council of the Women in the Law Division and has served on the Board of Governors and Nominating Committee. Additionally, she has been a member of the, Construction Law Section, Finance Committee, Gender Equality Committee, Health and Wellness Committee and Medical Marijuana and Hemp Committee. Additionally, she was a member of the Young Lawyers Division council, was a Young Lawyer Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation and was a member of the Bar Leader Initiative Class of 2012-13.
Ms. Laughlin was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer “Rising Star” from 2013 to 2019 and “Lawyer on the Fast Track” by the Legal Intelligencer in 2016. Outside of her legal work, Ms. Laughlin is a member of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Corporate Circles Board and is on the Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Community Advisory Council. A North Huntingdon native, Ms. Laughlin currently resides in Pine Township with her husband Nick and their young daughters, Ella and Tessa.
