CLE at Animal Friends: Fiduciary Ethics and Furry Friends
Legal and Ethical Issues in Retirement Plans, Trusts and Pet Ownership
This program will offer a unique blend of fiduciary ethics and animal-related legal issues.
The first portion of the program – “Fiduciary Ethics in Trust and Retirement Plan Management” – will explore ethical obligations in overseeing retirement accounts and trusts, focusing on fiduciary duties, improper actions and best practices to ensure compliance and accountability.
The second portion – “Pets as Family” – delves into the evolving legal treatment of pets in estate planning and family law. Attendees will learn about designating caretakers for pets, establishing pet trusts and creating legacies that honor pets. The program will also explore how to handle pet-related disputes in divorce, the role of PFAs in safeguarding pets in domestic violence situations and whether courts ever honor pet “custody” agreements.
A networking reception will follow the program, courtesy of Fragasso Financial Advisors.
