ACBA Wellness Circles

Wellness is crucial, especially for those battling the stresses and challenges that come with the legal profession.

To recognize the importance of mental health and well-being in the legal profession, the ACBA has launched an initiative called Wellness Circles, a vision of ACBA Past President and cancer survivor Amy Coco. ACBA members can self-select and opt into wellness circles, providing a confidential, supportive space to connect with colleagues, share experiences and focus on well-being.

These Wellness Circles have been developed to help legal professionals combat the stigma often associated with mental health and situational struggles. The goal is to foster open, honest conversations and create a supportive community.

Wellness Circle FAQs

What is a Wellness Circle?
An ACBA Wellness Circle is a small, member-administered group of ACBA members interested in connecting with others who are living with and/or working through similar challenges and circumstances. All ACBA members are eligible to join one or more Wellness Circles, and there is no cost to joining a Wellness Circle, and Wellness Circles are completely confidential. As a member-driven feature, the ACBA will not collect or have access to this information.

Why join a Wellness Circle?
No one needs to live with and/or work through a mental health challenge or life struggle alone. Connecting others who have faced or are currently facing similar journeys can be an important step toward healing.

How do I Join a Wellness Circle?

Will My Involvement be Private?
Participation in ACBA Wellness Circles is 100 percent confidential. Members can opt-in by connecting with the group leader, and the groups plan their own private meetings. The ACBA will not collect the names of participants in any Wellness Circle. Members of any Wellness Circle as asked to keep the names of participants and all discussions strictly confidential.

How much time do Wellness Circles require?
As much or as little as you like. Each Wellness Circle has the freedom and flexibility to decide when, where and how often to meet, and participation is voluntary.
