Summary

This program provides attendees with an overview of issues regarding the ownership of patient data, the major privacy laws that apply to it, and how intellectual property rights can and cannot help to protect it.

The program covers the use and protection of both identifiable Protected Health Information (PHI) and de-identified patient data, as defined under HIPAA/HITECH. There is an emphasis on transactions involving health data and the difference between data assignments and data licenses. The program also touches on merging issues concerning the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in the health data space. This program is suitable for attorneys of all experience levels and provides insights for those working both as in-house counsel and in private practice.
