Summary

During this program, panelists will discuss the intersection of disability and education law. The following topics will be covered:

  • The basics of special education, with an overview of federal and state laws
  • Relationship of students with disabilities and SSI applications, including an overview of SSI, eligibility and what to do if your request is denied
  • Transition planning for individuals with disabilities aged 14-26, regarding assessments, family engagement, postsecondary education and training and collaborating with agencies
  • Higher education, disability rights and Title IX, including recent changes in the law
