Don’t Let Cybercriminals Empty Your Bank Accounts

Cybercriminals are increasingly trying to steal money from bank and retirement accounts, using targeted phishing (spearphishing), SMS text phishing (smishing), voice phishing (vishing) and combinations of them. They target both business and personal accounts. In one example, the criminal sent a text message asking if a transaction was authorized and followed up with a phone call when the recipient replied “no.” The criminal tried to get account information in the call.

Awareness of these kinds of schemes is a first step in protecting against them. Others include:

• Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
• Use Strong, Unique Passwords
• Scams Are Constant – Don't Fall for Them
• Get Obsessed with Monitoring Your Accounts
• Keep Your Devices Locked Down Tight
