You Work Hard for Your Money, Protect It

Financial accounts of various forms – checking, savings, investments and payment accounts – are a core target of cybercriminals. Not surprisingly, financial institutions invest significantly in people, resources and processes to thwart these bad actors. Criminals are well-aware of this, so the most common intrusion point for financial resources are individuals.

Threat actors will try to trick you into providing your account password information through phishing attacks or even urgent calls to action via phone. But you aren’t without effective defenses. What can you do to protect your hard-earned assets?

  • Use strong passwords and, where possible, multifactor authentication for your financial/payment accounts.
  • Actively monitor your accounts. Set alerts so you get notified when funds are moved or transactions occur.
  • Always be suspicious – calls to action and urgent requests are to be scrutinized.
