The Allegheny County Bar Foundation is accepting applications for loans and scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year. Eligible students can apply for scholarships through the following funds:

New this year: Loans available through the Louis Little Attorneys’ Memorial Fund have increased from $3,000 to $5,000.

The Pittsburgh Legal Journal publishes timely, precedent-setting, full-text opinions from various divisions of the Court of Common Pleas. Opinions that appeared in past editions are available in a searchable database here; members must be logged in to the ACBA website to access this database.

The ACBA is inviting members to a free paper-shredding event in the parking lot at the Burns White Center at 48 26th St. in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. Thanks to the ACBA partners at Steel City Shredding, members can bring up to two boxes of papers to be shredded – right in front of your eyes – by Steel City Shredding's mobile shredding truck. There’s no cost for members, thanks to Burns White and Steel City Shredding, the event sponsors.

Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts will hold a forum on the importance of judicial elections on Monday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. A panel including the Hon. Jane Greenspan, a former Pa. Supreme Court Justice, as well as attorneys Brian Catanzarite, Deborah Gross and Marc Zucker will discuss why judicial elections are important, how to evaluate candidates, and more. The ACBA has announced its ratings for those individuals running for judicial office in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in the May 20 primary election. For more information or to see the ratings, click below for the news release.

Registration is now open for the ACBA Bench-Bar Conference! Bench-Bar will be held June 12-14 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. The conference, open to members and adults only, features three days of networking, fine dining, social activities, sporting events and more. Also, the theme for this year is the 60’s, so find your tie-dye, go-go boots, and peace signs and be ready for a groovy time!

Additionally, a total of 18 CLE credits will be available. Attorneys can earn up to eight CLE credits, and judges can earn up to six CJE credits. Full conference registration is $645. To see the schedule of events or for more information, click below.

Amen Corner’s 63rd annual Judicial Reception will be held on Tuesday, April 8 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Duquesne Club in downtown Pittsburgh. The event will recognize the Hon. Mary Jane Bowes of the Superior Court of Pa., and the Hon. Robert J. Colville of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
