The Kennedy T. Friend Scholarship Fund was established by the will of Kennedy T. Friend, a distinguished member of the ACBA who passed in London, England in 1929. Any child of an attorney who is a member of the Allegheny County Bar and has an active practice in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, is eligible for this scholarship if they choose to attend Yale University or the successor schools of the University of Paris.

The ACBA Civil Litigation Section’s 33rd Annual Lunch with the Judges will be held on Thursday, April 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm. in the Duquesne Club. The event, which is open to all members, offers attorneys the chance to network and enjoy lunch with distinguished members of the State and Federal Judiciary.

The highlight of the event – which is sponsored by Planet Depos – is the presentation of the Civil Litigation Section Professionalism Award, which is bestowed upon a distinguished member of the legal profession who has been active in the ACBA. The prestigious Professionalism Award will be presented the day of the event, unbeknownst to the recipient until that day.

The St. Thomas More Society of Pittsburgh is conducting its annual Franklyn E. Conflenti Lenten Speaker Series, and the speakers for this year’s sessions have been announced. The sessions will be held at noon on Tuesdays through March 24 at the offices of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. The sessions are free and are open to all members and guests; lunch is available for $10. Volunteers are needed to help prepare dinner for guests of the Family House on Wednesday, April 8 from 3-7 p.m. Family House is a nonprofit organization in Shadyside that provides safe and affordable lodging for patients and their families who travel to Pittsburgh for medical care. Volunteers must arrive by 3 p.m. will be helping prepare and serve dinner for 70-90 guests at Family House. The menu and ingredients will be prepared by the Community Service Committee. No cooking experience is necessary.
