The St. Thomas More Society of Pittsburgh is conducting its annual Franklyn E. Conflenti Lenten Speaker Series, and the speakers for this year’s sessions have been announced. The sessions will be held at noon on Tuesdays through March 24 at the offices of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. The sessions are free and are open to all members and guests; lunch is available for $10. Volunteers are needed to help prepare dinner for guests of the Family House on Wednesday, April 8 from 3-7 p.m. Family House is a nonprofit organization in Shadyside that provides safe and affordable lodging for patients and their families who travel to Pittsburgh for medical care. Volunteers must arrive by 3 p.m. will be helping prepare and serve dinner for 70-90 guests at Family House. The menu and ingredients will be prepared by the Community Service Committee. No cooking experience is necessary.

The Pittsburgh Legal Journal – the official legal journal of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas containing trial lists, legal notices, sheriff sales and more – is published five days per week and is available only to subscribers. The March 6 edition of Pittsburgh Legal Journal Opinions is available online. The Pittsburgh Legal Journal publishes timely, precedent-setting, full-text opinions from various divisions of the Court of Common Pleas. Opinions that appeared in past editions are available in a searchable database here; members must be logged in to the ACBA website to access this database.

This year’s BLI Class Project – “412 Restaurants to the Rescue” – is for you. The event will be held on Monday, March 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hotel Monaco, and it will benefit 412 Food Rescue, a nonprofit with a two-fold mission: to prevent food waste and to fight hunger in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Enjoy a Chef’s Tasting featuring cuisine from a variety local chefs, as well as featured wines. The event also will feature raffles and a presentation from 412 Food Rescue. Proceeds from the event will go to 412 Food Rescue through the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, and all leftover food will be re-purposed to serve those dealing with food insecurity in the area.
